This collection is staccato. But then again, aren’t most things, including life itself? Staccato stands for the distinct, the detached, the disjoint. Abruptly disconnected elements together form an unusual harmony that is staccato.

We often try to resist staccato. We may even be afraid of it. Society seems driven by a desire for almost everything in life to be consistent, to connect, to conform, to flow logically and smoothly from one to the next.

But through these paintings, I have embraced the staccato in life. I have appreciated how seemingly separate entities can be viewed in their entirety and form a ‘whole’. I have enjoyed realising how the incoherent becomes coherent, the disorderly becomes ordered and the many becomes one, when viewed and understood as staccato.

I invite the viewer to experience the staccato in this collection.

I hope you will enjoy discovering that connecting the dots is an intensely personal process and that tremendous harmony exists in what appears seemingly disjointed. I believe this is the beauty of staccato.
